Information event on grants scheme for vacant property owners planned in Carrick-on-Suir

An information evening about the local authority supports and schemes available to the owners of vacant properties will take place in the Carraig Hotel in Carrick-on-Suir on Thursday, February 8 at 6pm.

The meeting is being organised by Tipperary County Council in collaboration with the new Carrick-on-Suir Town Centre First Team.

Tipperary County Council officials will provide information on various schemes and supports available in Carrick-on-Suir including the Vacant Homes Refurbishment Grants Scheme.

Croí Conaithe is one grant available under this scheme where property owners can obtain grants of up to €70,000 in bringing vacant and derelict buildings back into residential use.

Vacant Homes Officer Nevan Phelan will provide attendees with the information they need to access the grants schemes and present examples of where the schemes have been successful in Carrick-on-Suir.

Anne-Marie Devaney of the Council’s Planning Department will give a presentation on vacancy and planning policy.
Martin Moore, Assistant Chief Fire Officer, will speak on fire safety and building control requirements for people interested in bringing their vacant properties back into use for residential and commercial activities.

He will provide best practice examples of where properties have come back into use in compliance with fire and building control regulations.

Carrick Municipal District Administrator Marie O’Gorman, meanwhile, will give an update on enhancement schemes available in Carrick-on-Suir over the next year.

There will also be an opportunity to hear from the newly formed Carrick- on-Suir Town Centre First Team, led by Town Champion Tony Musiol, on plans to create a Town Centre First Plan for Carrick in collaboration with Tipperary County Council.

The Town Centre First Plan will seek to build on the significant investment secured by Tipperary County Council for the town from the Rural Regeneration Development Fund.
