Four adults accused of attempted child abduction in Tipperary further remanded on bail

Four adults have been remanded on continuing bail by Judge Catherine Staines at Nenagh Circuit Criminal Court on charges of attempted child abduction.

The four were arraigned before the court last Wednesday and each pleaded guilty to one count of attempted child abduction at a location in county Tipperary between May 17, 2021 and May 25, 2021.

The four were remanded on continuing bail to the next sittings of the court in April to fix a date for sentencing.

Dermot Cahill, BL, who represents one of the accused, revealed that had the defendants not pleaded guilty, then there would have been 100 witnesses in the case.

Judge Staines agreed to the remand on condition the four continue to sign on at a named Garda Station once a week.

The court heard that there had never been any issue with bail conditions.

Judge Staines directed that, at this stage, the defendants not be named to protect the identity of the children involved in the alleged offence.
