The Skanstec Group is located at the Questum Acceleration Centre in Ballingarrane, Clonmel
The announcement by Limerick-based specialist electrical contractor H&MV Engineering that it will create over 400 jobs this year across its three plants has been welcomed by Cllr Siobhán Ambrose.
One of these plants is the recently-acquired Skanstec Group, which is located at the Questum Acceleration Centre in Ballingarrane, Clonmel.
Skanstec delivers infrastructure projects across Europe. The engineering company designs and builds critical infrastructure in power grids and communication networks. It was set up in 2021 by Declan Wynne, a finalist in the 2023 EY Entrepreneur of the Year competition.
It had profits of €1.7 million and revenues of €20 million in 2022, its second year of trading. Last month it secured two new contracts in the Nordic countries, a deal that it’s estimated could add €50 million to its revenues.
Skanstec shareholders and its management team will remain in the business and will reinvest some of their proceeds into the company.
According to Cllr Ambrose, this expansion announcement is very positive in terms of future investment in Clonmel and county Tipperary.
She hopes that this announcement will encourage other engineering or manufacturing companies to look at Clonmel as a potential base for either their new or expanding company.
She said that this jobs announcement is a very positive start to the year for Clonmel and she wished the company well, as they begin rolling out these 400 jobs across their three plants.
