The meeting heard that post is going astray because of the confusion
As Shakespeare asked in Romeo and Juliet, what’s in a name?
Quite a lot, it seems, if you’re a resident of Prior Park Grove, one of Clonmel’s newest housing estates, where a change of name could be on the cards.
There is “huge confusion” around the name of Prior Park Grove, Cllr Michael Murphy told the monthly meeting of Clonmel Borough District.
He said that in their search for Prior Park Grove, people are mistakenly going into the main Prior Park estate - where you already have Prior Park Close, Prior Park Green and Prior Park Crescent.
Cllr Murphy said the residents of Prior Park Grove would welcome an opportunity to discuss a possible name change with the council.
He said that this was the estate closest to the town’s railway and bus station. The council had an arrangement with the developer to purchase the houses there.
Cllr Siobhán Ambrose said that post was even going astray because of confusion around the name. Sometimes the word Grove couldn’t be seen in envelopes that had windows.
District Administrator Carol Creighton said there wouldn’t be any issue about changing the name of the estate, provided the majority of the residents were in favour.
