Major new development in the building a Tipperary biocampus passes at council

Elected members of Tipperary County Council have approved the disposal of and leasing of the engineering building at the former Lisheen mine in Moyne.

The property will be leased to the Bioeconomy Foundation for 25 years for €100,000 a year.

According to the council, the building will be used for research, development and production in the area of bioeconomy.

The development is expected to create jobs in the area and support national bioeconomy targets.

Councillor Seamus Hanafin welcomed the approval at last week’s sitting and said it is a very important step in the development of the bioeconomy campus.

He said that local leadership was an important element of the new development.

“We in Tipperary needed to be seen to lead that. That is crucial to develop a site of such importance,” said Cllr Hanafin.
