The Maternity Services of Tipperary University Hospital (TippUH) are delighted to announce the extension of their Antenatal Outreach Clinics to Cahir.
This is in addition to Antenatal Clinics already provided in Thurles, Carrick-on-Suir and Tipperary Town. Care is provided in the Antenatal Clinic by the Maternity Services Team of Tipperary University Hospital.
Maria Barry, Hospital Manager of TippUH said, “Providing Antenatal care in the community offers several benefits for women and their families, offering accessible, comprehensive, and empowering services. Community based care bring Antenatal services closer to women, reducing travel time and costs.”
In providing this service to the families of Cahir, Tipperary University Hospital is continuing to further develop and sustain a safe maternity service across the hospital and the community, in accordance with the principles of the National Maternity Strategy "Creating a Better Future Together 2016-2026.
Women can now receive consistent care from familiar providers, fostering trust and better communication throughout pregnancy. Community based Antenatal care often emphasizes a holistic approach, addressing not only medical needs but also social, emotional, and cultural factors influencing pregnancy.
