The Tipperary Minor hurling team celebrating their All-Ireland victory over Kilkenny in Nowlan Park in Kilkenny City.
Tipperary County Council plans to accord a civic reception to honour the All-Ireland winning Tipperary Minor hurling team.
The Council's new Cathaoirleach Cllr Declan Burgess proposed the according of the civic reception at the local authority's July meeting in Nenagh this morning (Monday, July 8) after congratulating the team on their “fantastic” victory over Kilkenny.
“I think you will all agree the team showed serious determination on the playing pitch, sometimes in very difficult circumstance. They did really well,” said the Fine Gael councillor from Cashel.
“All the players, panel and management did their county and communities extremely proud and I am delighted to propose that the County Council confers a civic reception for the team.”
Fianna Fáil Cllr Roger Kennedy seconded Cllr Burgess' proposal to accord the civic reception. A vote of congratulations to the team was later passed at the meeting.
A date and venue for the civic reception have yet to be fixed.
