Council passes vote of sympathy on death of former Tipperary goalkeeper Peter O'Sullivan

A vote of sympathy was passed at Tipperary County Council's meeting in Nenagh to the family of the late Peter O'Sullivan who played in goal on the 1971 All-Ireland winning Tipperary hurling team

A vote of sympathy was passed at Tipperary County Council's monthly meeting today (Monday, July 8) to the family of former Tipperary Senior hurling goalkeeper Peter O'Sullivan from Cashel, who has died.

The vote of sympathy to the All-Ireland winning goalkeeper from Stonepark and formerly Waller's Lot, Cashel was proposed at the meeting in the Council's Civic Offices in Nenagh by the Council's Cathaoirleach Cllr Declan Burgess.

The Cashel King Cormacs man played in goal for Tipperary when the team defeated Kilkenny in the 1971 All-Ireland hurling final. He also won an All-Ireland U-21 hurling medal with Tipperary in 1964.  

Mr O'Sullivan passed away at his home on Sunday. His remains will repose as his residence on Wednesday from 4pm to 8pm and the Requiem Mass will be celebrated at St John the Baptist Church in Cashel on Thursday at 12 noon.

He is survived by his wife Joan, son Seamus, daughters Noelette, Siobhán, Laura and Catherine, sons-in-law Amlaoibh, Diarmuid, James and Seamus, Seamus’ partner Ann, grandchildren Áine, Diarmuid Óg, Ciarán, Mícheál, Sean, Hannah, Olivia and his Goddaughter Ella, sister Kit, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and a wide circle of friends.
