New Clonmel Lions Club President Catherine Murphy with outgoing President Paul Cremmins
Clonmel Lions Club is delighted to announce the appointment of Catherine Murphy as its President for the coming year.
Outgoing President, Paul Cremmins wished Catherine every good wish in her new role and said that her many years as a club member would stand her in good stead.
Catherine thanked Paul for his time as President and for spearheading many successful projects, in particular the very worthwhile involvement with Barnardos, Clonmel and the development of their new Sensory Room.
Catherine has many exciting new ideas that will see the club diversify into some new areas, including environmental and heritage issues.
The club is currently exploring the idea of developing an awareness of the many mills that were once such an integral part of the economy of the town but sadly no longer exist. The idea of a mill race heritage trail is one such idea for the future.
Catherine also hopes to further develop the annual School Poster Contest, which proved to be very popular last year.
As always, the annual Christmas Food Appeal will be the main fundraising event of the year and the club looks forward to the continued support of the townspeople for this very worthy cause.
Paul and Catherine extended special thanks to their fellow Lions and expressed their belief that the club will continue to grow and develop as a vital organisation in the social and economic fabric of Clonmel.
The handover ceremony took place at a special ceremony held in the Talbot Hotel in the presence of family and friends, who all wished Catherine the very best in her new role and assured her of their continued support.
She has a very busy and fruitful year ahead to look forward to.
