Urgent call made for blood donors as clinic set to be held in Tipperary village

Demand for blood from Irish hospitals is rising month on month.

Demand for blood this October was up 8% over the corresponding period last year.

10,782 units of blood were required by Irish hospitals last month compared to 9,987 units required in October 2023.

The IBTS has an immediate need for blood donors, both old and new to attend these upcoming Tipperary Clinics.

As you may be aware, last month the Irish Blood Transfusion Service issued a pre-amber alert to Irish hospitals urging them to conserve blood stocks.

Escalation to a full AMBER-Alert could impact on scheduled hospital procedures which require blood product support.

A blood donation clinic will be held in Cappawhite Community Centre on Thursday, November 28, from 4:50pm to 8:10pm

New donors are always welcome.

Please phone 1800 222 111 to make an appointment.
