Cathaoirleach of the Tipperary County Council Declan Burgess has today issued a statement regarding a sewage leak on the Golden Road.
Cllr Burgess said: "I am happy to report that Uisce Eireann will be on site outside Caiseal na Ri on the Golden Road to address the sewage leak issue on the 1st February.
"I am thankful for the engagement with Uisce Eireann and for devising an innovative plan to ensure the issue is rectified. As many of you are aware sadly this issue was in private property and the authorities failed to receive engagement from the landowner. That obstacle added to the length of time this issue has went on for. The repair work will take place from the public road and will sort this situation once and for all.
"As this issue wasn’t Tipperary County Council’s direct responsibility, as sewerage is Irish Waters, I worked away on this issue quietly and effectively to ensure that this problem is resolved.
"I will monitor it closely and I want to personally thank the residents of the Golden Road for their patience and support as I navigated through this situation. Contractors are due from 1st February onwards," he concluded.
