Apex Aviation secures planning permission to expand and centralise operations in Nenagh

Major new facility to boost Nenagh’s role as a hub for aviation services and jobs

Apex Aviation secures planning permission to expand and centralise operations in Nenagh

Apex Aviation has received the green light for a major new facility in Nenagh, a development expected to consolidate its operations and strengthen employment in the region.

Tipperary County Council has approved plans for a six-hectare site at Lisboney Business Park. The project will include an aircraft engine maintenance centre, a dedicated storage facility, three warehouses, office space and supporting infrastructure.

The company, which employs about 50 staff across sites in Shannon, Birdhill and Nenagh, will now centralise its operations in the town. “Good news with the decision to grant planning for Apex Aviation Ltd to extend & expand their operations in Lisboney Industrial Park in Nenagh,” said Alan Kelly, a local TD.

The application drew some objections, with concerns raised about water and wastewater capacity, waste management and flood risks. Inland Fisheries Ireland also urged careful stormwater management.

The council nevertheless found the scheme compatible with local development plans and attached 17 conditions, including a ban on engine test benches and a development contribution of €205,332.

For Nenagh, the approval signals fresh momentum. The investment not only secures Apex Aviation’s long-term presence but also enhances the town’s profile as a hub for high-value industrial activity.

At a time when regional towns are competing to attract skilled jobs and modern infrastructure, the decision stands out as a vote of confidence in Nenagh and the surrounding regional viability to support advanced industries.
