Tipperary groups achieved notable success at the 2025 SuperValu Tidy Towns Competition Awards held in Croke Park on Friday October 24. For the first time, Tipperary town earned a medal in the national competition, taking home Bronze.

Emly and Terryglass were named county winners for South and North Tipperary respectively, which are judged as separate areas in the contest.
Across Tipperary, local efforts were rewarded with a total of six Bronze medals presented to Tipperary Town, Cahir, Nenagh, Roscrea, Silvermines and Birdhill. Terryglass achieved a Silver Medal, while Emly, Cashel, Clonmel and Kilsheelan secured Gold. These distinctions reflect how closely each came to the overall title. The Gold award carries a prize of €1,000, Silver €800 and Bronze €500.
The title of Ireland’s Tidiest Village went to Rosscarbery in County Cork. Carrick-on-Shannon, County Leitrim, was named both Ireland’s Tidiest Small Town and the overall national winner with 400 points out of a possible 550. Dalkey in County Dublin took the Large Town category, while Tralee, County Kerry, topped the Large Urban Centre division.
Among Tipperary’s top scorers, Emly received 395 points, followed by Kilsheelan with 392, Clonmel 381, Cashel 380, Cahir 377, Tipperary Town 365 and Bansha 352. Full competition reports are available on Tidytowns.ie.
In total, €270,000 in prize money was distributed in the main competition, with an additional €70,000 allocated to related awards.
Tipperary Town Chairperson Paul O’Callaghan said he was delighted with the result. He extended his thanks to the TUS participants, CE Scheme members, the Municipal District Council and all of the volunteers who contributed to the achievement.
