Extra resources are being deployed throughout the day and night to ensure communities can enjoy the festivities safely. Officers have urged parents to be particularly alert to their children’s whereabouts and to discuss how to celebrate responsibly.

“Fireworks pose a real and serious risk of causing injury and are illegal,” Gardaí reminded the public on social media. They also appealed for cooperation to ensure the evening is safe and enjoyable for both residents and animals. Anyone needing assistance is advised to contact their local Garda station or dial 112.
Superintendent Eddie Golden said that while most people celebrate responsibly, Gardaí will be focusing on areas where problems have occurred in the past. “There are certain individuals in those settings who have a different view of Halloween and they want to a big bonfire, they want to be unruly, to throw stones at the emergency services – Gardaí and the Fire Service – and absolutely create an environment which is not safe for anybody,” he said.
He noted that similar incidents have taken place in recent years, including in Tipperary Town. “We’ve had instances of it across the county over the last number of years particularly last year in Tipperary Town for example and this year we’re putting a far more robust policing plan in place,” he added.
Gardaí and emergency services have been targeted in the past during Halloween incidents, prompting a tougher stance this year. The force is urging everyone to “play their part” to ensure the night passes safely for all.
