Snooker in Tipperary is about to acquire a new spark. On Wednesday, 3rd of December, New Institute Snooker Club Nenagh hosts the inaugural 6-Man Intermediate Captains Cup, a contest designed to showcase skill, test strategic vision, and celebrate the mastery of the most daring player.

Conceived by David Lynch and Adam Rowan, who also serve as this year’s captains, the tournament promises a spectacle of precision, strategy, and controlled brilliance.
The format is as meticulous as it is demanding. Each side fields six players in a home and away fixture, with each match night offering twelve best-of-three battles spread across three rounds.
Four matches run per round, ensuring that every competitor faces the pressure of the spotlight twice, while two must wait in the wings. Each match won earns a point, leaving twenty-four points in play across the two legs.
Should both legs conclude in equilibrium, the drama will be distilled into a single, decisive frame, pitting one chosen player from each side against the other. Victory here will be earned through nerve, skill, and clear strategic thinking.
Captaincy rotates annually, with a rule that four different players must serve before a former captain may reclaim the role. Selection rests on travel, effort, recent form, and the chance to give less experienced players their moment of crucible, testing both talent and tactical acumen.
The tournament is sponsored by Robbie Ryan. Organisers are clear that this is more than a competition.
The cue balls will roll and the frames will be contested on Wednesday, 3rd of December, at 7:30pm at New Institute Snooker Club Nenagh.
