Eight students from Tipperary have been awarded prestigious Entrance Exhibitions by Trinity College Dublin in recognition of exceptional performance in their final school examinations.

The awards form part of Trinity’s annual Entrance Awards scheme, under which 602 first-year students from all 32 counties of Ireland, as well as from overseas, have been recognised this year. The recipients represent the highest-achieving entrants from their respective secondary schools.

The Tipperary students are Clodagh Twomey of Clochar na nUrsulach, Lauren Duggan of Clochar na Toirbhirte in Clonmel, Darragh O’Leary of Scoil na mBráithre in Nenagh.

Charlie Loughnane and Liam Hayes of Cistercian College, Hannah-Mai Sheehan of St Anne’s Convent School, Filip Adamczak of Cashel Community School, and Lanna Frawley of the Ursulines.

Awardees and their former school principals were invited to Trinity College Dublin to receive and celebrate their awards at ceremonies held in the Examination Hall between January 20 and January 22, 2026.

The 2026 cohort includes 59 students from 39 countries outside Ireland. Among Irish awardees, 393 are from schools in Leinster, 67 from Munster, 42 from Connacht and 41 from Ulster.

Trinity Provost Dr Linda Doyle congratulated the students on their achievements. “It is our great privilege to welcome these wonderful students to Trinity College Dublin.

They deserve enormous credit for the hard work and commitment that have brought them to this point. I have every confidence that they will thrive in Trinity’s incredible academic environment and enjoy the creativity and fun of our 150 sports clubs and societies.”

She also acknowledged the role played by families and educators. “I also want to congratulate all those who have supported these students on their journeys. In addition to their parents and guardians, I want to acknowledge the dedication of school principals, teachers and wider school staff both primary and secondary who play such a vital role in bringing out the best in students during their formative years.”

Entrance Exhibition awards are made to students accepted into the first year of a full-time undergraduate degree who achieve the highest CAO points among Trinity entrants from their secondary school, subject to a minimum of 500 points or equivalent. Where more than one student from a school attains the same high score, all are eligible to receive an award.

Past recipients have gone on to make notable contributions to Ireland’s economic, cultural and political life, including former Taoiseach Leo Varadkar. Each awardee receives a certificate and a €150 book token.
