New play 'The Burned Man' dark comedy and drama set to ignite the stage in Tipperary

Theatre-goers in Tipperary are in for a chilling and darkly comic experience this February with the arrival of The Burned Man, a new play from Fomóire Productions.

Performances will take place at the Source Arts Centre in Thurles on Thursday 12 and Friday 13 February at 8 p.m., with tickets priced at €18 including fees.

Set in a remote cabin deep in the Galtee Mountains, the play centres on Elijah Bright, known as “the Burned Man,” who holds two strangers captive as snow falls outside.

Over the course of one night, confessions emerge, absurdities unfold, and the fragile boundary between victim and villain begins to erode.

Elijah seeks retribution for the fire that claimed his wife, yet as the story progresses, the truth reveals itself in unexpected ways.

Written by Patrick Fogarty and drawing inspiration from Samuel Beckett’s Krapp’s Last Tape, the production fuses black humour with raw tragedy.

Through recorded voice messages and echoes of a life once tender, the play examines obsession, memory, and the human need for connection even amidst ruin.

Running for approximately 100 minutes, The Burned Man has been described as a tense, poetic exploration of love, guilt, and the forces that drive human behaviour.

Audiences can expect to be unsettled, moved, and compelled to confront the flames of both passion and despair.

Tickets are available now for performances at the Source Arts Centre in Thurles on 12 and 13 February. More information
