Irish international players Caoimhin Kelleher and Nathan Collins were this week’s guests on the 2 Johnnies Podcast, sharing insights into their sporting lives both on and off the pitch.

Kelleher spoke about attending the Munster hurling final and watching the All-Ireland Hurling Championship alongside his Brentford team mates. The full podcast episode is available now on Spotify.

The discussion came ahead of Ireland’s crucial World Cup play-off semi-final against Czechia on Thursday, March 26th, three weeks from now.

Among the topics covered on the podcast were Kelleher’s high-profile summer transfer to Brentford last year. He joined the club under manager Thomas Frank, who departed just a week after Kelleher’s signing.

Johnny B, asked Kelleher about his interest in hurling and if he follows Cork GAA.

Kelleher said he follows Cork hurling closely. When asked if he had watched the All-Ireland, he noted that the Brentford squad was in Portugal for pre-season at the time.

Collins added that the final had been on television at training camp, with the Brazilian players on the squad perplexed watching the game. Collins recalled, “we had the Brazilian lads watching hurling.”

The hosts were curious about the reaction of Brentford striker Igor Thiago to the sport. Collins explained, “he was confused to say the least, we were trying to explain it to him but it was not going through his head.”

Kelleher also revealed that he had attended the Munster final, and joking added, "Obviously that is the bigger one that you want to win." The comment drew laughter from the 2 Johnnies.
