The Board of Management of Shronell National School on Deerpark Road in Lattin has submitted a new planning application to Tipperary County Council for significant improvements to the school’s entrance and parking facilities.

The proposed development centres on the construction of a new vehicle entrance at the front of the school on Deerpark Road. The entrance is planned for the location of an existing dished public footpath, where the kerb is already lowered to road level, making it suitable for vehicle access.

As part of the proposal, the school also intends to introduce a one-way traffic system that would incorporate the existing entrance.

The plans include the removal of a portion of the front boundary wall to facilitate the new layout, along with the installation of entrance piers and a gate.

In addition, permission is being sought to enlarge the current parking area on the site. If approved, the upgraded layout would provide space for a total of 16 car parking spaces, increasing capacity for those using the school.

The application is currently listed as a new submission on the council’s planning register, with planner Lauren Butler Ryan assigned to assess the proposal.

The proposed works would result in noticeable changes to access arrangements at the school, particularly at the front boundary, as well as an expanded parking area within the grounds.

The deadline for public submissions has been set for April 25, while a decision is due by May 16.
