BREAKING: Michael Lowry hits out at Government over handling of fuel crisis

Tipperary North TD Michael Lowry has spoken out against the rising costs of fuel in Ireland.

Deputy Lowry issued a statement today, stating that “common sense” must now prevail, and that the Government must address the crisis that the people of Ireland are facing.

The statement comes amid ongoing fuel cost protests happening throughout Ireland this week, which have seen many major roads blocked up with tractors, trucks, and other heavy goods vehicles.

Deputy Lowry said: “We are witnessing the impact of the Trump administration war mongering.

“People are under enormous financial pressure, business, individuals and communities which has led to frustration and anger. Anger from the protestors and now anger from some members of the general public whose daily routine is disrupted.

“Common sense needs to prevail. Blockades need to be lifted. The Government must address the key issue which is the price of fuel at the pumps.

“The exchequer tax take and excise duty, will have to be central to discussions around a solution.”
