Ireland is set to play host to one of the biggest competitions in golf for the first time since 2006, when the K Club in Co Kildare hosted the tournament.
The people of Tipperary have already begun their preparations for the competition, with many across the county, and the rest of the country, listing their houses online as accommodation for golf fans for the weekend of September 17 to 19 next year, as well as part of package deals for trips of a week and beyond.
According to the website accommodationfortheevent.com, a site for people to search for accommodation for golf tournaments, 96 dwellings are listed to rent in Tipperary during the tournament at the time of writing, with prices in Tipperary for the duration of the competition ranging from between €3,000 and 89,000, with €36,125 the average cost of accommodation on the site across the 36 properties with available prices listed.
One person has listed their four-bedroom house in Nenagh for €40,000 during that time.
They say the house is located a 45-minute drive from the course.
Another has listed their five-bedroom dormer bungalow in Thurles for €50,000, which they say is approximately a one hour and 20 minute drive from Adare.
Many hotels in Tipperary have been making themselves available as accommodation, with Hayes’ Hotel, Thurles, and Lisheen Castle, and the Templemore Arms Hotel, all available for the biggest intercontinental competition in golf.

Many who have listed their accommodations for the event have included a note stating that the price would be made available upon application.
With 17 months to go before the tournament tees off, it is yet to be seen whether many more in Tipperary will add to the 16-page-strong accommodation in the Premier County.
