High praises for LIT Thurles campus at student conferring

President of LIT Mr Vincent Cunnane has heaped praise on the strong growth of LIT Thurles in recent years and it’s wide range of courses which “provide optimum job prospects” at a student graduation ceremony last week.

Nearly 200 graduates from Sports Strength and Conditioning, Business, Social & Community Studies and Computer courses were awarded their degrees at the conferring ceremony.

Mr Cunnane, who took up his new role as LIT President this September, also stated that the LIT campuses in both Thurles and Clonmel are prime examples of higher education institutions functioning outside main Irish cities.

“LIT’s Thurles and Clonmel campuses are examples of how Higher Education can be successful outside of the major cities. Our policy is to invest our resources sensibly in targeted areas which will provide the optimum benefit to the economy and the optimum job prospects to our graduates,” said the former President of Sligo IT.

“LIT has invested in our Thurles and Clonmel campuses to ensure that our graduates have practical experience at the cutting edge. The number of LIT students in Tipperary has grown to around a thousand, and the course offerings here have grown. This year, we launched new programmes in Early Childhood Care & Education and in Marketing and Management.  Next year, we will offer Business with Sports Management.  Demand for programmes is strong, and we are planning on significant investment in Clonmel,” Mr Cunnane told a packed audience on Friday morning.
