Two North Tipperary nursing homes have picked up awards at this year's Nursing Homes Ireland Care Awards in association with Homecare Medical Supplies.
Marie Carey, provider of care at Ashlawn House Nursing Home, Nenagh,was the recipient of the Nursing Homes Ireland Lifetime Achievement Award. The award recognises a person who has made a significant contribution to the nursing home sector and has worked consistently and steadfastly to promote, protect and advance care of the older person in Ireland. The award was accepted on Marie’s behalf by her daughter Aileen Curtin.
Marie has been proprietor of Ashlawn since 1979, and has been involved and a leader of INHO (Irish Nursing Homes Organisation) the forerunner to NHI and also NHI.
She has served on the board of NHI as regional director, representing the Mid- West region for four years
The winner of the Nursing Home End of Life Care Award was Linda Carew of Millbrae Lodge Nursing Home, Newport.
Two further Tipp representatives were finalists within two of the 11 award categories. Roisin Quinn of Millbrae Lodge Nursing Home, Newport, was a finalist in the Nursing Home Community Initiative Award. And Margot Kelly of Rathkeevan Nursing Home was a finalist in the Nursing Home Catering and Nutrition Award category.
