BREAKING: Man (31) appears in court in relation to murder of Tipperary pensioner

A 31-year-old man has been charged with the murder of an 81-year-old man in Tipperary Town last September.

Sean Harding appeared in Thurles District Court on Wednesday morning, January 28, in relation to the investigation into the death of Tipperary Town pensioner Timothy "Teddy" Murnane which occurred in September 2025.

Mr Harding of Marian Terrace, Tipperary Town was brought before Judge Fiona Brennan at Thurles District Court.

Mr Harding had previously been charged with assault causing harm to Teddy Murnane, a retired bus driver, at Mr Murnane’s home at St Michael’s Avenue, Tipperary Town, on September 12, 2025.
Mr Murnane died in University Hospital Limerick on Monday, September 15 following the assault.
But on Wednesday, at a District Court sitting in Thurles, Mr Harding was charged with the murder of Mr Murnane.
Det Garda Conor Gleeson, of Cashel Garda station, said the defendant said “no” to all charges against him when charged with Mr Murnane's murder.

Mr Harding was remanded in custody to appear before court in Thurles again on Wednesday, February 4.
