A coveted Tipperary hurling jersey worn in the 1989 All-Ireland final and signed by some of the Tipp's teams stars was among the large stock of items that went under the hammer at a charity auction run by Carrick-on-Suir's St Vincent de Paul Shop last weekend.
The Tipp jersey was donated by former Tipp All-Star John Leahy from Mullinahone.
Paintings, antiques, jewellery, furniture and an array of novelty items such as a collection of Elvis Presley memorabilia were also auctioned at the Strand Theatre last Friday.
St Vincent de Paul Collections
The St Nicholas Conference of the St Vincent de Paul is appealing to the public to supports its Christmas collection boxes in most shopping outlets in Carrick-on-Suir and its church gate collections this weekend.
The church gate collections will be at St Nicholas Church, Carrick-on-Suir, St Patrick's Church, Faugheen, Grangemockler and Ballyneale Churches.

Many families and the elderly are struggling to put food on the table or heat their homes this winter. Calls to the St Vincent de Paul for assistance have risen by a third since last year with more and more families seeking the charity's help. St Vincent de Paul asks the public to help these people this Christmas.
