A major local event celebrating education in Cullen will take place at the school on Sunday, September 16, 2018.
A committee has been formed and planning has already commenced on the various aspects of the celebration, which will include a special Mass, entertainment and the launch of a commemorative book.
The committee are presently seeking school photos and contributions from former teachers and pupils relating to their memories of school life, not only over the past 50 years, but of their time in the old two storey building which formed part of the Cullen village landscape for over a hundred years. Developments can be followed on social media, but more involvement from the local community would be most welcome.
As Linda Byrnes remarked in the letter which is being distributed to homes in the area this weekend: "We would like to make this a special occasion by connecting our past, our present and our future". The next meeting will take place in the school on Thursday, January 18, at 7pm.
