Clonmel student wins trip to Dail, Stormont and Strasbourg parliament

A Clonmel student is off to visit three separate parliaments after coming through a prestigious youth competition.

Presentation Secondary School student Emer Ryan will visit the Dail, Stormont and Strasbourg after winning the regional final of Rotary's Young Leaders Development Award.

The finals were hosted by Clonmel Rotary Club and Emer will be joined on her travels by David Lawlor from Carlow who also came through the finals.

Students from Carlow, Kilkenny, Naas, Newbridge, Youghal, and Waterford as well as Clonmel competed in the Clonmel event, sponsored by Boston Scientific.

To qualify the students are subject to rigorous questioning on subjects as varied as environmental issues, the EU, Brexit and Rotary, and in addition the students had to be familiar with how these categories effect them locally, nationally and globally.
