Tipperary beekeeper wins World Cup for his beautiful honey

Clonmel beekeeper Tom Prendergast is a world champion and showed off the cup to fellow beekeepers at a recent get-together in the town.

Clonmel beekeeper Tom Prendergast is a world champion and showed off the cup to fellow beekeepers at a recent get-together in the town.

At the recent Honey show in London, Tom Prendergast of the South Tipperary Beekeepers Association  won the World Cup for his beautiful South Tipperary honey.

Tom, who lives in Ballypatrick on the foothills of Slievenamon, is a long time beekeeper and keeps his bees in and around the surrounding area. 

Tom, a Kilkenny man, keeps telling his colleagues that  his bees travel to Kilkenny for the extra flavour!

At the AGM Tom had the Hamlin Cup to show the gathering and included on the night were four other winners - James Power, Denis Ryan, Jim Power and Redmond  Williams.
