A Status Yellow Wind Warning has been put in place until Friday at 4pm as Met Eireann predict gusts of 110km/h to hit parts of the country later today.
According to Met Eireann parts of the country can expect west to northwest winds veering north to northwest with mean speeds of 50 to 65km/h with gusts between 90 and 110km/h.

The wind warning is in place in Donegal, Galway, Mayo, Clare, Cork, Kerry and Limerick with winds possibly higher for a short time today along western coastal areas.
A snow-ice warning is also in place with widespread heavy and thundery showers expected throughout Thursday producing hail, sleet and snow at times, leading to accumulations of ice on untreated surfaces.
Icy conditions have led to multiple car accidents on stretches of the M8 motorway on Wednesday evening and Thursday morning.
