Red Snow Warning issued for Tipperary

A Status Red Weather Warning has been issued for Tipperary.

Met Eireann issued the warning this morning (Wednesday) at 11am to cover all of Munster and Leinster, including Tipperary, for later this week.

The Red Warning is an upgrade from the Yellow Warning that was in place and saw heavy snow falls overnight and today.

An Orange Weather Warning is currently in place across the county.

The Red Weather Alert has been issued because Met Eireann say blizzard-like conditions will develop in heavy snow and strong easterly winds on Thursday evening and will continue Thursday night and Friday morning giving significant snow drifts in many areas.

The Red Warning currently covers the time from 6pm on Thursday to 12noon on Friday. Updates will issue as they become available.

Events across Tipperary have been cancelled because of the weather warning - click here for details. Let us know if your event has been cancelled or postponed and we'll spread the word!
