Accident update: Motorist in "critical" condition in hospital following Co. Tipperary road crash

Motorist injured in Tipperary crash - road closed and diversions in place

Road closed between Tipp town and Dundrum.

A man is in a "critical" condition in Cork University Hospital after he was involved a single vehicle car accident between Tipperary Town and Dundrum in the early hours of this morning. 

Gardai at Tipperary Town Garda Station said the injured motorist was a foreign national. The car he was driving went off the Dundrum to Tipperary R661 Road at Greenane around 1am, hit a ditch and crossed the road.  

Ambulance, gardai and the fire brigade attended the accident scene. The motorist was taken initially to South Tipperary General Hospital in Clonmel and was transferred from there to Cork University Hospital. 

The R661 road was closed until mid-morning today to allow gardai carry out a forensic examination of the accident scene and to clear the road. 

Gardai have appealed to anyone who can assist their investigation into the accident to contact Tipperary Garda Station at (062) 51212.
