The quality of teaching and learning in the subjects of Science and Physics in Thurles C.B.S. ranges from “satisfactory to very good”, according to a newly published report.
A Department of Education official carried out a Subject Inspection at the Thurles Secondary School on March 5th and 6th, and the report was published last Thursday, April 10th.
All schools across the state are subject to such regular inspections. C.B.S. Thurles is an all-boys voluntary secondary school under the trusteeship of ERST – Edmund Rice Schools Trust.
The enrolment stood at 667 students at the time of the evaluation. The school offers the Junior Cycle and the established Leaving Certificate as well as an optional Transition Year (TY) programme and the Leaving Certificate Vocational Programme.
The main findings are: “The quality of teaching in Science and Physics ranged from satisfactory to very good, though the majority of lessons were of a very good standard."
