Stars light up the stage at Clonmel school fundraiser

Stars in their Eyes Clerihan

“Abba”, the winners of Stars In Their Eyes, included Clerihan National School teachers Shane Luby, Denise Fleming, Tara Tierney and Padraig Fahey.

After postponing the original show, Clerihan National School hosted ‘Stars In Their Eyes’ at Hotel Minella in Clonmel.

The event was part of the fundraising drive for the school’s Buildings Development Project.

Fourteen acts kindly volunteered their talents, singing hits from across the decades. This was followed by a dance troupe that wowed the audience with their routine.

The acts were drawn from parents of children who attend Clerihan school;  past pupils of the school, the parents of past pupils and other talented volunteers  from Clerihan and its environs.

MC Willie Bun entertained the crowds to rapturous applause.

The judging panel included Dancing with the Stars’ Dayl Cronin, Johnny Luby, Cherry Hally and Fr. Enda Brady.

Clerihan National School, located just north of Clonmel, has gone from strength to strength in the last number of years.

The school community, including the Board of Management and Parents’ Association, constantly strive to provide the best education and  facilities for pupils.

All partners in the school have been working together this year to undertake an ambitious building project to improve upon the already excellent school facilities.

This includes the building of a new reception entrance, an upgraded entrance to the yard and a new multi-purpose room.

This room will be an additional learning space in the school as well as a dedicated Breakfast Club/After Schools Club facility for the community.

‘Stars in their Eyes’ was a real night to remember. The event was enthusiastically received by the local and wider community. The main sponsors were Larry O’Keeffe’s Furniture, Clonmel and Clonmel Oil.

The winners  were members of the Clerihan school staff who received a standing ovation after performing the  Abba number 'Super Trouper'.
