Gardai seize drugs, firearm and ammunition in Tipperary

A firearm, ammunition and quantity of suspected illegal drugs was uncovered by gardai as part of a major search operation in Tipperary this morning.

Gardaí took part in a major search operation at several locations around Clonmel this morning in relation to criminal investigations and drug related activity.

Up to 40 gardai and custom officials, along with members of the Armed Support Unit and the Divisional Drug Unit were involved in the searches which began shortly before 9am this morning. Also involved in the investigation was 25 probationary gardai from Templemore Garda Training College.

Two men, aged in their 20's, were arrested in relation to the investigation and were taken to Cahir Garda Station where they are being detained for questioning.

As well as a quantity of suspected drugs officers have also seized ammunition and a firearm.
