Summer Festival at Cahir Castle starts Friday

An outstanding range of high-quality entertainment will be brought to South Tipperary by Cahir Social and Historical Society’s

‘Summer Festival at the Castle’ which begins in the magnificent Great Hall of Cahir Castle at 8.15pm this Friday, 6th July.

The opening event will be a lecture by David McCullough (RTE’s ‘Prime Time’ and historian) on ‘The Rise of Éamon deValera, 1882 - 1932’.

The following weekend will see the works of William Shakespeare return to Cahir Castle with Cork’s Chattyboo Productions bringing a selection of extracts from some of the Bard's most famous plays to the Great Hall in their performance of ‘Will’s Women’ on Friday 13th and Saturday  14th.

Vocalist/flautist/native of Cahir, Maria Walsh and pianist/saxophonist, Carole Nelson, have released six albums as Zrazy.

Their combination of pop and electronic music with jazz should make for a memorable gig in the Great Hall on Friday, 20th July while the festival will end the following weekend with two performances by the rising operatic star that is the soprano, Jennifer Davis, on Friday, 27th and Saturday,28th July. Jennifer will be accompanied on piano by Aoife O’Sullivan, for what should be a fabulous evening of opera and song.

Tickets are available from Cahir House Hotel at 052-7443000. Each performance commences at 8.15pm.
