Great day of fun at Clonmel school's Sports Day

Racing for the line during the Sisters of Charity sports day were Lily Tobin, Aoife O'Gorman, Sarah Kiely and Caoimhe O'Callaghan.

The sun shone for a fun filled sports day at the Sisters of Charity School in Clonmel recently.

Sixteen teams comprised of 7 year old to 13 year old girls filled the playground eager to begin a day of games and fun.

The teams were led by 6th class and performed a range of chants and routines to the delight of all the children present.

From Buzzing Bees to Dancing Divas, the range of talent displayed was outstanding. Colourful home decorated t-shirts and face paint added to the excitement.

Following the chants, the teams congregated in the school field for the “Sooper Dooper”.

Each team engaged in a number of activities such as the Wellie Waddle, basketball throw, space hoppers, monster feet, balance ball and soccer skills, to name but a few.

The parents' council kindly provided welcome goodie bags for all pupils which were consumed quickly and the day continued with novelty races.

In the afternoon, Ellie Morris and Beth Buttimer were presented with sports person of the year awards. Team K won best team overall and Teams D and B were given a special mention.

As it does every year, this day will go down in the memories of all the children who participated. Fun with friends at the end of a school year packed with learning and laughter in the Sisters of Charity School.
