There are 66 homeless people in Tipperary
Tipperary had the 12th highest rate of homelessness in the week 20th to 26th August, according to a report issued today.
During that week the figures for homeless people in Tipperary stood at 66 while the lowest rate of homelessness was in Leitrim, with just one person listed.
Monaghan and Roscommon also fared considerably better than Tipperary with figures revealing 2 and 6 cases of homelessness in those counties.
Predictably the highest numbers were recorded in the larger cities, with 3,944 in Dublin, 329 in Cork, 302 in Limerick and 229 in Galway.
The report, based on data provided by housing authorities, captures details of individuals accessing State-funded emergency accommodation arrangements that are overseen by housing authorities.
The figures show that there are fewer adults, families and their associated dependents accessing emergency accommodation. This follows the completion of an exercise to ensure the correct categorisation of emergency accommodation. This exercise was initiated by the Minister in May this year and notified to the Oireachtas at that time.
