Digital Hub for small businesses to be created at revamped Carrick-on-Suir Town Hall

Carrick-on-Suir Municipal District Director Pat Slattery who announced details about the Digital Hub planned for Carrick-on-Suir Town Hall

A Digital Hub providing office space with high speed Internet access for start-up businesses is to be located on the top floor of Carrick-on-Suir's revamped Town Hall, which is nearing completion.
Carrick MD Director Pat Slattery informed councillors at the District's monthly meeting in Carrick-on-Suir that the Digital Hub will boast "hot desk" work stations and One Gigabit broadband speed.
There will be computers at the workstations, printer and other office facilities.
Mr Slattery said the Council was working with Carrick-on-Suir Tourism & Economic Development Committee to provide this facility and the Council has applied for funding for the project from the Department of Communications, Climate Action & Environment.
After the Municipal District meeeting, Mr Slattery told The Nationalist the Digital Hub will initially accommodate about six people but that can be expanded if there is sufficient demand.
The work spaces will be available to rent to new companies and to existing businesses who require high speed broadband and office space for their operations.
If the Council secures the funding for the Hub, it will also be required to fund digital training for the community. The Council plans to fulfill this obligation by funding basic digital training courses for groups like the over-55s at Carrick-on-Suir Library.
Carrick-on-Suir SF Cllr David Dunne welcomed the news and said it could be a "game changer" for the town.
