Lurcher puppies
Mo Chara Animal Rescue have issued an appeal for funds after rescuing a litter of Lurcher mix pups.
In an emotional Facebook appeal the team at Mo Chara didn't hold back with their anger at how the puppies were treated and abandoned before coming to them.
The following contains details from the post on their Facebook page from Tuesday night:
"FUMING doesn't cover it. About three weeks ago we were approached to take in a litter of unwanted lurcher mix pups. At the time we didn't have room so we asked for individual photos and details so we could look for foster homes. We were sent a couple of blurry group shots and so we asked for clear pictures of each pup and their details, no further information was sent to us.
Last Thursday, the same people rang asking when we were going to take the pups - we told them we would have room this weekend and again asked for individual photos and details. Again, no further information was sent to us.
Fast forward to two days ago and we got a separate call about a litter of pups found abandoned not far from where the first callers lived. These pups arrived with us today and guess what? It's the same litter - we can clearly identify some of them from the group shots. They are riddled in worms, weak and malnourished.
I rang the original callers to be told that they had given the pups away last week to a man so it wasn't their problem. Guess what, THAT. IS. NOT. GOOD. ENOUGH.
Even if the story is true, since 2015 it has been illegal to sell or give away un-microchipped pups. We will be passing their details along with the details of the mystery man to both the Dog Warden and the Guards. It's time our welfare laws were upheld. If they hadn't been found by kind, caring people, what would have faced these pups? Starvation? Hypothermia? Death on the road?
If you don't want puppies, neuter your dogs. If you don't want to spend any money on your dog then DON'T GET ONE. Rescues are crumbling under the strain caused irresponsible pet owners. Enough is enough.
The pups are now warm, safe and fed. They've been wormed and will get their first vaccines tomorrow. We will post more information about them in the coming days. If you would like to contribute towards their care it would be greatly appreciated".
If you would like to support Mo Chara and help these puppies please go to their Facebook page - Mo Chara Animal Rescue page and a pledge a donation.
