Young members of Carrick United FC marching in a previous St Patrick's Day Parade in Carrick-on-Suir
Carrick-on-Suir’s St Patrick’s Day Parade Committee met last week to start planning the town’s first parade in three years.
Committee member Cllr David Dunne told Carrick-on-Suir Municipal District’s monthly meeting last Thursday that the parade’s theme will be to celebrate the “frontline” workers who played such a vital role during the pandemic and to commemorate all the people who died locally from Covid-19.
“The parade is to give people a chance to celebrate the lives of the people they lost and to celebrate the fact we are getting on with our lives and getting back to normal.”
He issued an invitation at the meeting for community groups from other towns like Killenaule and Fethard in Carrick-on-Suir Municipal District to take part in the Carrick-on-Suir parade.
He said the Carrick-on-Suir parade was for the whole district, not just Carrick-on-Suir town.
