Ardfinnan student Cara Darmody was among a group of inspirational young carers honoured for their work they carried out on behalf of carers.
Cara Darmody, an advocate for the provision of improved services for children with autism, was among the award winners at the Netwatch Family Carer of the Year awards held in Dublin.

She was one of four remarkable young carers honoured at the event.

The Netwatch Munster Young Carer of the Year was named as Cara Darmody (12) from Ardfinnan. Clonmel, county Tipperary.
Cara helps care for her two brothers Neil (9) and John (5), both of whom are severely autistic.
She has recently grabbed the national headlines for her incredible advocacy work in calling for improved supports and services for families of children with additional needs and for her fundraising efforts.

Cara sat the Junior Cert maths exam in June to raise funds for therapy services for children with additional needs.
