Cahir Castle was the perfect setting for performance of Dickens' 'A Christmas Carol'

Just days before Christmas, the production of Charles Dickens ‘A Christmas Carol’ by the cast of the Oceans of Notions Theatre Company of Cork could not have been staged at a better time. Cahir Social & Historical Society organised the event that took place last Thursday.

On what was a very cold and frosty evening the Oceans of Notions Theatre Company crew returned to Cahir after a memorable performance in Cahir Castle in December 2019.

The cosy atmosphere of the Great Hall of Cahir Castle, the huge fireplace, seasonal decorations and candle like lighting made the hall perfect it for this rendition of a beautiful Christmas tale.

As usual the event was sold out and the audience sat rapt while ‘A Christmas Carol’ was narrated by actors Kieran O’Leary accompanied by Annette Buckley and Rockwell Music Academy’s young Alanna Manton.

As Dickens wrote near the end of this wonderful story “I will honour Christmas in my heart, and try to keep it all the year” and many who attended this event will do so I’m sure.

Cahir Social & Historical Society would like to thank everyone for the support shown for their events during 2022 and wishes everyone a very happy Christmas. They look forward to bringing you more events in 2023!
