Cahir GAA Club would like to express sincere sympathy to the family of Ned Lonergan from Cashel who died during the week.

SYMPATHY

Cahir GAA Club would like to express sincere sympathy to the family of Ned Lonergan from Cashel who died during the week. Ned was a brilliant hurler with Cahir’s Wild Rovers hurling team in the 1950s.

Quoting from the Munster Tribune of Friday 25 November 1955; ‘The outstanding man on the winning team was Ned Lonergan, who notched 1-1 in the first half and his great efforts in the second half gave the necessary incentives to his team mates to go all out to gain victory. That was the Marlfield Cup final when the Wild Rovers defeated Marlfield led by the great Theo English.

Ned was also involved in acquiring Cahir GAA field which is a brilliant amenity in the centre of town.
