The first count will not come until all boxes for Newport LEA are opened, but initial tallies show that Team Lowry Independent Pamela Quirke O'Meara looks set to be the first newcomer to the County Council in the Newport LEA.
Quirke O’Meara is currently in second place in the polls behind runaway Labour Party Councillor Fiona Bonfield, along with another sitting Councillor Phyll Bugler.
She has taken the lead on current Fianna Fail Councillor John Carroll by a substantial margin, who is still sitting comfortably in fourth place.
She has long been an advocate for positive change for families through her role as Family Learning Coordinator and has taken up the challenge of joining Team Lowry after the recent retirement of long-serving and now-retired Councillor John “Rocky” McGrath.
