U21 county semi-finals fixed for this coming weekend in aid of Dillon Quirke Foundation

U21 county semi-finals fixed for this coming weekend in aid of Dillon Quirke Foundation

The semi-finals of the county U21 hurling championships will go ahead this weekend, with all the games taking place this Saturday and Sunday.

No county championship phase was due to be played this year, as the county board didn't not allow for the conclusion of the competition on a county basis in the calendar year.

But the divisional boards have come together to run an U21 tournament and all proceeds from the semi-finals and final are set to go towards the Dillon Quirke Foundation.

In the A competition on Saturday, mid champions Thurles Sarsfields will face the west winner in Cashel King Cormacs in Dundrum, while simultaneously the other semi-final between south champions Mullinahone and the north victors Borris-Ileigh will get underway in Golden.

Meanwhile, the B competition will have one semi-final per day on Saturday and Sunday, with the first clash between west representatives Golden Kilfeacle and mid winners Upperchurch Drombane fixed for Annacarty, while the second semi throws in on Sunday in Borris-Ileigh between Killenaule from the south and their north counterparts Burgess.

All games are set to throw in at 1pm and will be decided on the day.
