2022 was a very successful year for Tipperary rally driver Joe Browne (right)
Joe Browne wrote himself into the record books in 2022 when he became the first Tipperary Motor Club member to win the National Junior Rally Championship.
The 21-year-old from Clogheen finished first overall in the Junior class in the Galway Summer Rally and the Stonethrowers Rally in Clonmel, along with a second place finish in the same class in the Mayo Stages Rally.
He also competed in the Birr, Carlow and Limerick rallies and won the highly competitive championship by 11 points.
He completed a highly successful year by also winning the The Midlands East junior championship and the Top Parts West Coast junior championship.
Although he has only been driving competitively for two years, Joe has already made a mark in a sport in which he looks to have a bright future.
His outstanding form in 2022 also earned him a nomination for the prestigious Billy Coleman Young Rally Driver of the Year Award, which has been previously won by big names of the sport including Craig Breen and Josh McErlean.
Joe has also won an Annerville sports award, sponsored by Bulmers, and he and the other winners will be presented with their awards by the Tipperary United Sports Panel at a function at the Talbot Hotel Clonmel next Saturday night, January 21.
