Labour are rep Louise Morgan Walsh at Ballycommon village

Labour Party local area rep Louise Morgan Walsh has welcomed the installation of enhanced traffic calming measures at a number of villages in north Tipperary by Tipperary County Council.

Ms Morgan Walsh has campaigned for a number of years for enhanced traffic calming in the village of Ballycommon and is delighted with the installation of Vehicle Activation Signs outside the 50 km/h zones.

Ms Morgan Walsh, who is on the board of management at Carrig National School, said that the issue of cars travelling at speed through the village had been of major concern for many years by parents, local residents and business owners.

“Since the introduction of the Vehicle Activation Signs last Christmas, residents have noted a significant reduction in the number of vehicles speeding through the village and feel that their village is now much safer.

She thanked Paul Keane Tipperary County Council executive engineer, the elected members, district manager Marcus O’Connor and district administrator Rosemary Joyce for securing the necessary funds and their assistance in implementing the traffic calming measures.
