Faith Kennedy Ryan received a Highly Commended award at the PDST National Write a Poem Competition
Challenge to Change: All students in Presentation schools are invited each year to participate in the Challenge to Change programme, which encourages the girls to look at the environment and the world around them and to initiate change either locally, nationally or internationally.
This year our Transition Year students undertook an ecological project in line with the guidelines issued by the Presentation Sisters.
Our girls looked at the importance of bees and we created a bee-friendly garden, a bug and bee hotel in our school, along with other ecological projects in conjunction with the Student Council, and they managed the compost bins around the school.
Well done to all of the students involved and to Mrs Susan McGee for co-ordinating this wonderful initiative.
Minor Soccer: Huge congratulations to our 1st Year soccer players, who qualified for the Munster A Final after a comprehensive 4-0 win over Coláiste Íde, Abbeyfeale, with a Molly Kirwan hat trick and a goal from Anna Crawford.
We would like to say ‘Thank you’ to Peake Villa FC for the use of their excellent facilities last week. Well done to all players and coaching staff – Pres abú!
Poetry Competition: Congratulations to our fifth-year student, Faith Kennedy Ryan on receiving her ‘Highly Commended’ award at the PDST National Write a Poem Competition last week.
Well done, Faith, we are very proud of you.
Hockey: Our Minor team took on Crescent in the Minor B Cup Final last week.
We enjoyed a home advantage on our own astro turf. It was a hard-fought game between the two teams, and the score was 0-0 going into the final quarter.
With five minutes left on the clock, Aoife O’Grady broke the deadlock. Aoife, captain fantastic, with the rest of our great team held on to secure victory.
Well done to the whole panel. Our Senior C team are now Munster League champions.
This great team only lost one match all year.
Aoibh Carroll received the cup on behalf of our squad in recognition of their hard work throughout this year.
It has been a long season for the girls, playing seven league matches and four cup matches.
Congratulations girls, and well deserved. Well done to the sixth-years who juggled both study and hockey commitments, and we wish them all the best for the future. Huge gratitude to our hockey coaches, Ms Marie Flanagan and Ms Kora Kerrane.
Camogie: Our first-year camogie team took part in the Borrisoleigh blitz last week.
Our Pres girls put in exceptional performances to qualify them for their group. The girls then competed against Borrisokane in the semi-final.
A tough battle saw our Pres girls advance to the Final, which was played against competition holders, Borrisoleigh.
The final proved to be a very exciting game with a valiant effort from our girls. However, a Borrisoleigh goal in the dying embers of the game proved to be decisive.
The girls will now play the Munster schools’ blitz in the coming weeks.
Well done to the girls on the panel and to their coaches.
