Clonmel athlete Evan Fitzgerald is expected to be in the mix at the National 5k Championships, which take place in the Phoenix Park this Saturday.

The action will get underway at 9.30am, with many of Ireland’s top road runners looking to take national medals back to their home clubs.

There will be two new champions crowned this year in the absence of last year’s winners Efrem Gidey (Clonliffe Harriers AC) and Ciara Hickey (Brothers Pearse AC).

Both the men’s and women’s races are wide open, and it is anticipated that they will come down to the wire.
