Thousands arrive to Cashel for the Red Bull ‘Conquer the Castle’ event today

Thurles man beats international field to win 'Red Bull Conquer the Cashel' race last weekend

Thurles man Stephen Flanagan beat the international field to win 'Red Bull Conquer the Cashel' race last year

The Red Bull ‘Conquer the Castle’ event takes place today in the heart of Tipperary. The famed Rock of Cashel is the venue as thousands travel from far and near for the event.

Competitors will take part in a gruelling event where they must sprint over an obstacle course just at the foot of the rock. They have to overcome a lung-busting series of twenty-plus obstacles, as they attempt to ‘Conquer the Castle’.

A mirror event took place in Castle Irvine on May 6th last. The event was previously held in Cashel but this years course will differ from the 2022 version, with additional features and an extended course.

Stephen Flanagan from Thurles, County Tipperary proved to be the ultimate challenger at last years epic Red Bull Conquer the Cashel. Against an international field, he proved himself to be a cut above the rest and won out to take home a cash prize of €2,000.

This sprint course this year is 2.5km in length, with approximately 20 obstacles to overcome. More details can be found here:
